The Mystery Riders started as a group of riders that would try to go out once a week. The first riders picked the name Mystery Riders and chose Thursday morning for our ride start date/time. It was important to note in the early years not a lot of riders went out at a time (sometimes as few as 3). Also, in those early years, we were open to all motorcycle riders – regardless of what brand they drove or where the riders lived. With Sun City Festival being as remote as it is from Surprise, AZ (suburb of Phoenix) only riders living in Festival or Foothills ever attended our rides or meetings. When we did have meetings, they could be done in a home or a near-by restaurant. It was common to have several parties a year – again at members’ homes since the number of members (and significant others), was such we could fit in the smallest of homes. The Mystery Riders are the only represented motorcycle riding group within the Festival Community.
A ride and lunch to Skyline Park in Buckeye
South Park in Phoenix
These videos were from our Thursday ride to South Mountain Park in Phoenix. The elevation at the entrance to the park is 1300 feet, climbing to Dobbins Point overlook which is at 2250 feet. The drive is very scenic, but you don't really get to gaze at it for long, lest you miss a turn in the road. Our club takes rides throughout the Phoenix area, and this one is a pleasant surprise for being close to downtown Phoenix. Thank you to Joe Dyer for filming this for us.
